In parallel with the ongoing development of Armenian-Turkish relations, commercial interest in importing goods from Turkey to the local market has significantly intensified. This shift has led to critical procedural updates within the customs clearance sector.
Application of the Transaction Value Method
The most significant change relates directly to customs valuation. In previous years, imports originating from Turkey were almost never cleared using the transaction value method (Method 1). Customs authorities consistently rejected the presented commercial invoices and enforced value adjustments based on internal reference indicators.
Today, the regulatory approach has changed. Numerous shipments are now successfully cleared under the transaction value method (Method 1). Customs authorities have begun accepting the actual, invoiced prices of Turkish goods as the baseline for valuation. Consequently, when an importer provides a complete and verifiable document trail, the cargo is processed at its real purchase value, eliminating arbitrary recalculations and unexpected costs.
